Counseling Center

For all incoming Sophomores - WELCOME TO THE PACK!!
Please check the counselor list below and email your counselor with any questions you have regarding next year's schedule.
We know that moving to the high school can be accompanied by many questions and the desire to make sure you select courses that will be right for you and lead to graduation.
As a brief reminder incoming sophomores have a few classes that are required.
1. English 10  - If you are an ALPS Student you may be placed into a higher English class but any student who does not have English 10 credit should take either English 10 or English 10 honors.  If you are an ALPS student and have already received credit for English 10 please let us know which English class your teacher has recommended in the form below and we will add that in for you.  If you do not have English 10 credit please select one of the English 10 options.
2. Math  - Math will be based on your current math level.  If you have questions about math the best suggestion would be to talk to your current math teacher and ask them for class recommendations.  Most students will take Math 2/Math 2 Honors or Math 3/Math 3 Honors.
3. World History - You may self select into Either AP World History or AP European History - either of those AP History classes will also count for World History
4. Science  - You should select a Science Core but you may take any of the science classes listed on the registration card.  Just keep in mind that you will be required to take 2 core sciences before graduation.  Core sciences are Earth Science (not taught at RHS), Biology, Chemistry and Physics.  It is typically recommended that Sophomores take Biology if they took Earth Systems or they can choose between Chemistry and Physics if they are currently in Biology
5. Health Credits - Typically Sophomores opt to take Fitness for Life and Health 2.  If you do not choose to take these classes as sophomores you may load up your junior and senior years which could affect things like having enough open spaces for things like the JATC.
6. Drivers Ed / Careers - Drivers Ed is only 1 quarter long.  Careers is the class taken to back the opposite quarter to round out the full semester.  Drivers Ed is based on your birthday.  Please pay attention to the dates and select the correct quarter.
7. Digital Literacy Credit - For sophomores who did not take this credit in 9th grade - it is recommended to take this credit.  You can choose one of 3 classes for this credit: Business Office Specialist, Web Development, or Computer Programming.
8. Electives - You can choose any other classes and opt to take things like Digital Literacy, Art, or Health classes in other years if you do not have room for audition classes or other classes you were hoping to take at the high school.  Keep in mind - you have the potential to earn as many as 31 Credits while in High School - so if you plan things out carefully you should have plenty of room for things to "fit".

If you are wanting to take online classes over the summer through the SEATS program or have questions about credit recovery please see your current middle/charter school counselor.
